About Us
Bethel Bible Community is a non-denominational independent Bible community in Wichita Falls. We are a new assembly of believers with a focus on the study of Scripture from the historical Jewish perspective.
Bethel Bible Community was founded in December, 2017 by a group of believers who, along with Congregational Leader Brandon Carpenter, want to pursue in-depth study of the Bible in order to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18). We want to apply God’s truth in our lives, our relationship with Him, and our relationships with others.
We believe that having an understanding of the Jewish context of the Bible illuminates the text and “connects the dots” in a way the Jewish authors intended. By learning the historical context of God’s Holy Word, we are able to more fully comprehend Jesus’ message to the people of his day and gain a better grasp of what the Scriptures are teaching.
We are excited to move forward together as members of the body of Christ, and we invite you to join us in this journey.
Brandon Carpenter, Community Leader
Brandon Carpenter and his wife, Dawn, lived in Wichita Falls for 15 years where he worked at MSU as Director of Testing Services and then at Grace Church as the Pastor of Discipleship and Senior Adults. From 2016 – 2018, Brandon and his family lived in Edmonton, Alberta (Canada) where he served as Lead Pastor of Capilano Christian Assembly. Brandon and Dawn are parents to Thomas and Hannah.
Returning to Wichita Falls, Brandon is excited to lead Bethel Bible Community and to watch God at work among His people. Brandon is passionate about discipleship, leadership development, and teaching. Brandon received his training at Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary with a MA in Biblical Studies, Southern Evangelical Seminary with a MDiv in Apologetics, and doctorate studies at Dallas Theological Seminary.
About our Logo
Our logo represents Bethel Bible Community well. The word “Bethel” means “House of God.” From one perspective, it looks as if the Christ-filled house emerges from a book. Indeed, Bethel Bible seeks to be a fellowship of believers who are grounded in the Holy Scriptures knowing that spiritual growth is impossible apart from the study of the Bible.
From another perspective, a six-branched menorah is viewed with the cross found within the center-lamp position. The center lamp was referred to as the “eternal light.” It was also called the shemesh, or “servant” because it was used to rekindle the remaining six lights on the menorah whenever it was trimmed.
Ancient Hebrew rabbis have suggested that the shemesh position represents Messiah. Jesus is the central light in the menorah and the centerpiece of the human race. Bethel Bible Community seeks to keep Jesus in the central position of our lives and to be servants, just as He was a servant.
